Paws 4 Liberty’s Veteran Service Dog Program serves eligible United States military veterans who meet our organization’s military-service, medical, geographic, and program-participation requirements.

For purposes of eligibility for this program, current or former members of the Reserve or National Guard must provide documentation showing that they completed qualifying active-duty military service under applicable federal orders or were deployed during their military service.

​

Reserve or National Guard service consisting only of basic training, initial active duty for training, annual training, weekend drills, or other inactive-duty or training status does not meet Paws 4 Liberty’s eligibility requirements.

​

Deployment outside the United States is not required when an applicant has otherwise completed qualifying active-duty service. However, Reserve or National Guard membership alone does not establish eligibility for this program.

Applicants may be required to provide documentation such as:

• A DD Form 214 or other official separation documentation

• Active-duty orders or documentation verifying qualifying federal service

• Character-of-discharge information, when applicable

• Treating-provider documentation

• Personal or professional references

• Authorization for Paws 4 Liberty to verify information submitted during the application process

 

Submitting an intake form, medical letter, reference letter, military record, or other requested document does not guarantee acceptance into the program. These materials are required as part of our standard screening and verification process.

Paws 4 Liberty may contact treating providers, references, military contacts, or other appropriate individuals to verify information supplied by an applicant. Requests for documentation and verification are not an indication that an applicant has been accepted, nor are they intended to create an unnecessary barrier to participation.

An applicant is accepted only after all required information has been received and reviewed and the applicant has received written confirmation of acceptance from Paws 4 Liberty.

Paws 4 Liberty’s website identifies the population our organization serves. It is not possible to list every military status, service history, medical circumstance, or other condition that may result in ineligibility. Each application is reviewed individually under the eligibility standards and capacity limitations established by Paws 4 Liberty’s Board of Directors.

Paws 4 Liberty reserves the right to verify eligibility, request additional documentation, deny an application, or discontinue the application process when an applicant does not meet program requirements, provides incomplete or unverifiable information, or is otherwise determined not to be an appropriate candidate for the program.
