We Prioritize Quality Over Quantity

Paws 4 Liberty is a small nonprofit organization with a focused mission: changing the lives of veterans through highly trained service dogs. Every service we provide to our veterans is offered at no cost, thanks to the generosity of our donors, volunteers, grants, and community supporters.

Because we are a small organization with limited resources, we intentionally choose quality over quantity. Rather than serving as many applicants as possible, we invest significant time, training, and individualized support into every veteran and service dog team we accept. This allows us to maintain the high standards our veterans deserve while ensuring each team receives the attention, education, and guidance needed for long-term success.

Our application process is intentionally comprehensive. Completing an application, submitting intake forms, providing medical or provider documentation, supplying reference letters, participating in phone calls, interviews, meet-and-greets, temperament evaluations, or any other step in our admissions process does not guarantee acceptance into Paws 4 Liberty's program. These requirements are part of our vetting process and help us determine whether an applicant—and, when applicable, their current dog—is an appropriate fit for the demands of our program.

Our application process, documentation requirements, reference verification, evaluations, wait times, and program policies are not barriers—they are safeguards. They protect the integrity of our program, ensure responsible stewardship of our limited resources, and allow us to continue providing exceptional service dog training and placement completely free of charge to the veterans we serve.

We appreciate your patience, understanding, and respect for these procedures. Every decision is made with the best interests of our veterans, our dogs, our volunteers, and the long-term sustainability of our nonprofit in mind. By focusing on quality over quantity, we can continue changing lives while maintaining the high standards that define Paws 4 Liberty.

By submitting an application and intake forms to Paws 4 Liberty, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to our admissions process and program policies. You understand that submission of an application, participation in the vetting process, or completion of any required documentation, evaluations, or interviews does not constitute acceptance into the program.

You further acknowledge that Paws 4 Liberty is committed to quality over quantity, and that all admissions decisions are made in the best interests of our veterans, our service dogs, our volunteers, and the long-term sustainability and integrity of our nonprofit organization.

Paws 4 Liberty does not train or place “comfort pets” for public access purposes. Our program standards are centered on trained disability-mitigating work, public neutrality, handler accountability, and long-term team stability.

After the submission of this form, a Paws4Liberty trainer or staff member will be in contact soon. Please wait to contact us and do not call about the status of your application, as we do have waitlists and will contact you when we have space in the program and in the order in which you fall into when you submitted your intake form.
